DIEGO CRUISERS
A  CHAPTER OF THE SPECIAL  MILITARY ACTIVE
AND RETIRED TRAVEL CLUB
(S*M*A*R*T)
The Diego Cruisers Chapter was chartered 5 April 1990 and grew over the years to a maximum of 107 members. Currently, reflecting the age and health attrition common to SMART in general, we are at approximately 60 members  The popularity of the SMART Diego Cruisers and its activities draw members from all three Pacific Coast States and as far east as Texas and Gulfport, MS.  Some of our members are winter visitors from the cold climate.  Others are full timers, singles, and retirees from all branches of the Uniformed Services.

Our bylaws emphasize our strict observance of impartiality in matters of race, religion, sex, age, and ethnicity or national origin.  All are invited and welcome to join us.

In addition to National and Southwestern Regional Musters, we have four scheduled  chapter outings (musters) each year to enjoy the wide diversity of our excellent attractions, beaches, lakes, mountains, and deserts.  Our warm weather allows a full array of day and evening games, crafts, or just sitting, chatting, and enjoying new and old friends.  Participating in SMART caravans in various places like Alaska, Canada, Fall Colors of the NE and canyons of the SW is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow RVers and See The Country We Defended

Between musters we enjoy special events such as parades, tours, military demonstrations and a monthly luncheon at local military base where new members are welcomed and birthdays and wedding anniversaries are celebrated.  The luncheon is currently held at 11:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at the  Admiral Baker Golf Clubhouse at Admiral Baker Field in  San Diego..  You are welcome to join us.

We are proud of our community work in support of our military.  Our members have made hundreds of wheelchair bags for our VA hospital for which we were named as recipients of a Channel 10  Community Leadership Award.  We have participated in the annual San Diego Veterans Day Parade with RV's decorated with SMART and Diego Cruisers banners.  We recently received a letter from Rear Admiral C.S. Hunter,  the  Commander of the Navy Regional Medical Center in appreciation for our support of the Fisher House at Balboa Naval Hospital.
